WWI Trench Watch and their beginning

Pocketwatches are bulky for soldiers in the field and can limit the soldiers need to access to their watches while their hands were occupied in the trenches. The earlier model of trench watches are modification of pocketwatches with wire lugs wielded around the case to hold the leather straps. The case are usually in gun metal or steel or silver. The dial is usually porcelain.
